That long?
Man I really need to start blogging more. I guess being busy with my children is what is making it difficult. LOL.

I have not blogged in forever again! Must be a busy person huh?
Well, I had to cash in my pennies to get some needed items for my kids, so I am starting again. In other news, here is a way to pinch pennies..rearrange your house..FREE. My husband did that last night and it looks better. Just needs to be picked up is all and it will look like a home!

Been awhile again...
Sometimes I am a good blog writer. Other days I am not. I have noticed that I have not written in a long time, so I think I will update now. LOL. Well, the change ordeal has been slow. I have found some pennies here and there, but other then that, not much to update. It is going to take quite awhile to save. Maybe if I went all over this big city, I could fill up some more of my bucket. I would, however, need a car, and I do not that have available. LOL. I guess I will just have to keep looking in spots that I do go to. I did however, this morning, found 2 pennies on my way to pick up a can of diet pepsi from the convience store down the street. I consider that good luck.

I am a Flybaby. Meaning, I follow the Flylady method when it comes to cleaning the house. Anyone can do it really. You can find information on www.flylady.net or you can get the book "Sink Reflections" Check it out, you would be happy you did. You will be able to get house routines down, and still have time to do other things!!!!
The heat is really warm here now. It has been in the 80's but it is supposed to rain this week.
Our new little one is growing like a weed. 2 months old and already in 3-6 month clothing and size two diapers. Our 4 year old is going into 5T clothing right now, and is working hard at potty-training (her developmental delays had delayed this process)
Thanks for reading my blogs. You are more then welcome to leave a comment if you wish, but not nessecary. Have a great day!

Been awhile
I have not updated in awhile. Since I last blogged, we have found a total of about 2.00 on the ground. Yesterday we found all the change just walking down our street! Someone wasted quite a few pennies and a couple of dimes.
Starting March 30, my blogs will be slowing a tad. Thats right..I am scheduled to have my baby on the 30th! :D I will be busy healing from my c-section and everything, but I will update whenever I can!

So we changed our minds on our savings...
I was sitting and I was thinking about the money we have saved so far. Well, I figured it would take FOREVER for that vacation, so I started thinking about something else to save for. I started thinking of items in our house and I got to thinking about beds. So, I decided that we should save up for a new bed for hubby and I!
We have a bed right now, a California King. We got it off of craigslist for 50 dollars. We pretty much wore out the boxsprings. We sold the frame because we hated it...so we had it on the floor. We lived in a apartment with mice. No good.. :(
So, I want a new bed, with a nice frame. It will take awhile, but I think it is a more realistic goal. I can't wait to be able to purchase a nice bed..with a comfy mattress..and sleep well. I also plan on getting a new bedset for it too. It will be great!!!!!!! I will have to argue with hubby on bedset. He likes his black, I like my colors. LOL. Then I want to reduce it to a queen size bed. The King we have barely fits in our small room.
I can't wait to save up for that! :)

Our finds today
We went to Wal-Mart to get some stuff for hubbys computer and for me to get something for his birthday. We found a penny outside, and Robert found a dime in Wal-Mart. That was pretty good findings for us. I saved the change that I had recieved, and Robert gave me a bunch of change too. I am not counting tonight, but I am planning on counting every week or so, so I know how much we have. I am going to keep a running total also. Sometimes hubbys mom likes to sneak peeks in our bucket and so does his brother. LOL.
Current Savings
So tonight, I had the DH count the change up we had. He counted up 8.97. I was so happy. A month and a half and almost have 10.00. That is pretty good for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Being on a tight budget, really puts a cramper in things, but hey..it is all worth it in the end. Taking the surveys sure helps!

Finding change downtown
My hubby and I had to go out today. I had a appointment for a ultrasound and non stress test. So, while we were waiting at the bus station to catch our next bus, we walked around. I found a dime today! I was thinking SCORE! That is another coin to stick in our bucket. I would like to be lucky like the person on The New York Changepot and find a 5.00 bill. That would really make my day!!!!!! I also saw a penny while I was on the bus going to the appt. Well, I just couldn't hop off and get it now, huh? LOL. Oh well, there is always another day to find a penny!

Finding change in the home!
I thought this would be an interesting post. Well, today I when puttering around upstairs in my mom-n-laws room, I found a quarter. SWEET! Well, I dropped the darn thing and can't find it. Bummer. BUT.......I did find a dime up there! Score! I brought it downstairs to my change bucket. Then later on, I found a penny. SCORE again!
Look around your home, in corners, crevices, under couch cushions. I bet you will find some change in there. Stick it in your bucket, jar..whatever. It does add up eventually!
Right now, just taking a peek in my jug..there are alot of pennies, some silver and..OOPS, part of my lancet thing for my glucose test!!! I better dig that out soon! There is a couple dollar coins and a 1.00 bill. Someday we will be able to take that vacation! Just not anytime soon.
I priced a trip to Indiana...for 2 adults and 2 children, it would be over 2000! HOLY cow! I think we need to plan closer...or travel in a few years. :P

Why do people throw away change?
Everywhere we go, I see pennies, a occasional dime, quarter on the ground. The question is why? I know some people drop it by accident, don't get me wrong, but I have SEEN people throw change on the ground. What a waste I say. Most of it is pennies. Well, I have picked up pennies after I have seen people throw them on the ground. I think that it is that people don't like pennies, think they are not worth the cost, so they throw out the pennies. That makes money for someone, such as I.
Pennies, they can go a long ways. For example for me, the vacation of our dreams. For other people, cars, vacations, whatever. If everyone saved change, then they could get something that they want! We will see what happens in my future.
For now, I log off. I will update periodally to see how I am doing.

My goals for my change
As you read in my last post, my husband and I never had a honeymoon. We are one of those that have very little money to spare. We have kids now, so I decided we could always make it into a vacation of some kind. We have talked about it for awhile now. My husband wants to go to Disneyland. Last time he went, his mom was pregnant with him! LOL. I told him I rather wait until the children are older. I went to Disneyland when I was 11. I told him I wanted to go to Indiana. He goes "Whats there?" I said "April!" I have several friends online. I have always wanted to visit every single one of them..but you know, I would be saving up thousands upon thousands of dollars. Well, I have heard Indiana is a good place, so I figured I could go there someday and visit. We could meet her and her daughter, and have a good time.
I also want to go to New Mexico, to Roswell..yes the ailen city! I have a online friend there too..Angela. I would love to meet her someday too. I have several goals of vacations in my life before my children turn 18 and move out. Another place my husand wants to go is Las Vegas. Every persons dream! To each his own I guess! LOL.

First Post!
Welcome to my blog!
Has anyone ever read the blog "The New York Changepot"?
The ones that have not, here is the link: http://changepot.blogspot.com/
I got the part of the idea from this blog, plus discussing it on message boards about saving change that is found. Well, my husband and I always find pennies on the ground, or other things, like silver. My husband and I have never had a honeymoon when we got married. We have kids now..a 4 year old and 1 on the way. I figured that I would start saving for a family vacation with change. Being on a very limited income, I decided we could start, by change we have around the house that we don't use and of course, change we found on the ground. So, we started doing just that in January of this year.
I have a 5 gallon water jug that goes on a water machine. I recieved it from my grandmothers house after she died. My mother and father had aquired it since my dads siblings didn't know what to do with it. They were going to get rid of it themselves. I said "I'll take it!" So, I earned 1 jug. I mean if it could be half full and get good money, I could do it too!
So, we started picking up change off the ground, throwing in change that we don't use which is a ton of pennies. We have thrown in a couple dollars as well. As of today, we have about 8.00 in the bank. We have a whole garbage can full of pop cans that the previous tenents left out in our yard before we moved in. I want to recycle them. 25 cents a pound right now, but it is well worth it. We can ALWAYS reuse the can too! We do drink pop around here. Of course, I see cans on the ground alot too.
Well, this was my first post. I have a couple more to go tonight..different topics. Welcome and enjoy your stay!
